 A bit about me:

I'm married and have five kids altogether -- his, mine, and ours.  I also have two cats -- a black half-Scottish Fold and a cream point Birman. And I just found out that I'm going to be a grandma next spring.

I am currently in the graduate program at CSUSB, working on my MA in English Composition.  I have my BA in English Literature, and I hope to one day have my MFA in Creative Writing.

I  work at the Victor Valley College Writing Center as a senior writing tutor.  And I just started working in the Basic Skills Lab as well.

My friends will tell you that I'm the "biggest Tears For Fears fan in the world" and have been for over twenty years.  I recently attended a total of five concerts within a year and was lucky enough to have met them twice during the tour.

I also play World of Warcraft, and I have a level 60 Night Elf Druid on the US Perenolde server.  I am a member of the Paradox raiding guild.

I began studying the art of Middle Eastern Dance but have not been able to find a new teacher or classes in my area that mesh with my schedule but hopefully soon, though.

Some interesting and silly bits of trivia about me:

Nickname: Sonie --given to me by my niece when she was one because she couldn't say "Sonya."

Birthdate: May 21, though I'm on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini, I sit on the Gemini side of the fence.

Born: Ann Arbor MI -- Go Blue!

I'm inked on my left foot and ankle with three versions of the fish I designed in high school.

I'm a Heinz 57: Irish, Dutch, German, Canadian, English, and possibly some Native American.

I'm a serious Chocoholic, but I only like dark chocolate.

My favorite color is green -- dark emerald green.

My favorite American city is San Diego.

If I could visit a place outside the US, there are so many I'd want to go: Ireland, England, Egypt, India, France just to name a few.

I like to sing, especially when I'm driving somewhere.

I used to be a pretty good artist, but I'm seriously out of practice and can't draw anything more than the passing doodle or stick figure.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do watch recorded TV, such as
Weeds, Supernatural, both Stargates, Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, Heroes and Dexter
.

I don't have a favorite movie, but I suppose though, if someone were to make me choose, it would be
Donnie Darko
(ironically, not because of Tears For Fears).

As much as I like to read, I don't have a favorite author.  I like Poe, Shakespeare, Frost and
various other poets.  But I'm not much into Poe's poetry, mostlly his short stories.  Other authors I admire are Alice Hoffman, Toni Morrison, Joyce Carol Oates, and Barbara Kingsolver.
